    Memories from 2010

horizontal rule

Mom (Janice M. Toye) passed away on August 21, 2010 after a courageous 11 month battle with endometrial cancer.

Born September 11, 1930 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Orin and Hazel (Thompson) Gantka.  She met the love of her life Robert W. Toye and they were married on January 16, 1960. So began her fairytale with the man and the family she loved so dearly.

She was much loved by all who knew her, she will be greatly missed.

Mom loved the lyrics to the song "Once In a Million Years", by Blackmore's Night.

At Mom's grave side funeral, we released a dozen Monarch butterflies in her memory.

Through out that day, and every day since, it warms my heart each time I see one.

I remember Mom's wonderful spirit every time a Monarch flutters by.

We got the butterflies for Mom's service from Kathleen Ziemer at

Kathleen tagged the 12 butterflies before their release. You can check the website for the tag numbers.
